The 4R program in action:
Beluga Relocation

The first project of the 4R Program was the rescue and relocation of two 15-year-old beluga whales from the LaFeria de Chapultepec amusement park, a privately operated facility in Mexico. Nico and Gasper arrived safely at the Georgia Aquarium early Monday morning, Oct. 17, 2005. On Jan.2, 2007, the Aquarium mourned the loss of Gasper after a longtime battle with osteomyelitis, an infection of the bone, and a weakened immune system. Help us continue our efforts to provide animals with a better living environment and access to expert healthcare by contributing to our 4R program.
