The Georgia Aquarium opened on November 23, 2005, as the world’s largest aquarium, featuring more aquatic life than found in any other aquarium in more than eight million gallons of water. Through more than 60 exhibits, Georgia Aquarium tells a global water story, with features modeled after the greatest zoos and aquariums from around the world.
But there is more that goes on behind the scenes here…
We are proud to host a remarkable aquatic veterinary care facility, forward-thinking educational programs with exclusive classroom and exhibit space and a drive to further the science of conservation through our exhibits and research.
And through the vision of one man, Bernie Marcus, we can achieve our goal to be a cornerstone in the redevelopment of downtown Atlanta and a lasting gift to all the citizens of Georgia.
The Georgia Aquarium, a 501(c)3 organization, is seeking individuals, foundations and corporations who are interested in supporting our mission and helping to further our goals in the areas of education, conservation and science. You have the unique opportunity to help us grow beyond the initial gift of the Aquarium facility and into the fulfillment of these goals.
