From its conception, The Learning Loop and our education programs were designed with teachers in mind. During each step of development, from planning and implementation to assessment, an education advisory board was involved in helping us make the decisions that would better serve the education community.

Need-to-Know Information
Each education program includes several behind-the-scenes experiences as
well as portions of the main Aquarium.
Programs begin promptly at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
There are four education programs, which are grouped according to the following:
- Sea Life Safari: Grades K - 2nd
- Weird & Wild: Grades 3rd - 5th
- Undersea Investigators: Grades 6th - 8th
- Aquarium 101: Grades 9th -12th
The programs are aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards according to each grade level.
K-5th grade programs will include Deepo's Undersea 3D Wondershow.
The education programs include several behind-the-scenes experiences as well as portions of the main floor for you and your students to enjoy. Please review the regulations below, and ensure your class is prepared for their trip.
- No hats allowed.
- Wear comfortable rubber-soled shoes. No flip flops, heels or roller shoes.
- No chewing gum.
- Students should not bring book bags, writing utensils or other classroom materials.
- Students are asked not to bring cameras.
- Education Programs are designed to be grade/age-appropriate. Younger/older children of teachers and chaperones are not allowed to participate in the educational experience with your class.
- All participants must be age five or older. Younger siblings or students are not allowed in this area due to liability and safety reasons.
- Teachers and chaperones must stay with their assigned environmental educator at all times.
- Let us know of any special needs your students may have. We will do our best to accommodate the special needs of your students.
Grade/Age-Appropriate Programs
Your educational program will be taught according to the grade level for which you register. Each program is aligned with the grade-appropriate objectives and Georgia Performance Standards. If your students function at a lower or higher grade level than their actual grade, please call 404.581.4192 for assistance in determining the appropriate program for your students.
Teacher Responsibilities
The classroom teacher shall be responsible for the following:
- Assuming responsibility for students in your class. This includes but is not limited to discipline and the health and welfare of the students. The policies and procedures, sent to you in your pre-visit packet, explains the rules for students participating in the education program at the Georgia Aquarium. Please review this with your students.
- Refraining from using cell phones during the education program.
- Conferring with the environmental educator prior to your arrival to discuss your upcoming trip.
- Assuming responsibility for chaperones that represent your class. This includes ensuring that they supervise the children, remain with the group and adhere to the policies and procedures. Also, it is your responsibility to enforce the student chaperone ratio. Additional adults will not be allowed to participate or pay to participate in the educational programs. Parents wishing to pay admission to the main Aquarium and meet up with their child will not be allowed to do so.
Chaperone Responsibilities
The chaperone shall be responsible for the following:
- Assuming responsibility for students in your group.
- Staying with your assigned environmental educator at all times.
- Refraining from using cell phones during the education program.
- Adhering to the policies and procedures.
Souvenirs
Students and teachers will have an opportunity to visit the gift shop at the Aquarium.
First Aid
First aid is available courtesy of Piedmont Hospital, located on the first floor.
